Vol. 493 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Aid.

Pat Carey

Question:

166 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Education and Science the level of funding received from his Department by an environmental conservation organisation (details supplied) for each year from 1994 to date; whether this organisation will qualify for funding from the £30 million youth service fund in view of its excellent work in developing the community free nursery in the Finglas area, Dublin 11; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16385/98]

The following amounts have been paid by my Department to the Environmental Conservation Organisation under the youth service grant scheme:

Year

Grant

1994

£33,000

1995

£40,402

1996

£42,000

1997

£43,300

*1998

*£43,300 has been allocated by my Department to the Environmental Conservation Organisation under the youth service grant scheme for 1998.
It would be premature to say whether or not this organisation might qualify for funding under the young people's facilities and services fund as structures are only currently being put in place to assess plans/applications under the fund.
