19 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Taoiseach the progress to date by the working group within his Department to examine and assess problems for information systems in relation to the year 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15956/98]
My Department's Year 2000 working group is continuing to make progress on the achievement of Year 2000 compliancy. To date the first phase of the PC replacement programme has been completed and two critical file servers have been upgraded. All other critical systems will be replaced or upgraded before the end of 1998 and two security systems will be replaced during the Dáil recess in 1998.
A considerable in-house effort is being made to resolve this issue and the situation will continue to be closely monitored by senior management in my Department and by the Year 2000 interdepartmental committee.
