Vol. 493 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

95 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry has not been paid his beef premium for December 1997. [16448/98]

The person named applied for 20 animals under the December 1997 22 month special beef premium scheme. Due to a processing error, payment has not yet issued. Matters have recently been rectified and all outstanding special beef premium payments will issue within the coming two to three weeks.

Michael Ring

Question:

96 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be included for the 1997 extensification payment or 11/12ths thereof in view of the fact that he sold his milk quota in May 1997. [16552/98]

Under EU regulations the permanent milk quota held by a producer on 1 April each year must be taken into account in the calculation of stocking density and for the purposes of determining eligibility for extensification premium. Although the person named sold his milk quota in May 1997 since it was in his name on the reference date of 1 April 1997 it must be taken into account in the overall calculation. Unfortunately, in this case its inclusion means that the person named will not qualify for payment of extensification premium in 1997.

Question:

97 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when an inspector will call to a REP scheme applicant (details supplied) in County Mayo to enable payment to issue in view of the fact that she was promised a visit almost four months ago. [16553/98]

This applicant was selected at random for a 5 per cent plan inspection. It is expected that the inspection will take place within the next three weeks following which the case will be processed with a view to payment.
