Vol. 494 No. 4

Written Answers. - Seaside Resorts Scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

261 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to extend the seaside resort pilot relief scheme for a further year for those who have been granted planning permission since June 1998 and are unable to take it up due to objections lodged to An Bord Pleanála or are unable to have it completed by July 1999 due to legal difficulties with their properties; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18389/98]

The seaside resort scheme was introduced with effect from 1 July 1995 for three years on a pilot basis. The qualifying period was extended in the 1998 Finance Act for a further year to 30 June 1999 for pipeline projects. The seaside resort scheme is currently being reviewed by officials from my Department, the Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation and the Revenue Commissioners. Any further decision regarding the scheme will have to take into consideration the findings of this review.
