338 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the estimate supplied to his Department in respect of the cost of carrying out works at Beach Road and Strand Road, Sandymount, Dublin 4; the moneys provided to date in respect of these works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Dublin Corporation supplied an estimate of £600,000 for improvement works on Beach Road/Strand Road in an application submitted under the EU cofinanced scheme of grants in June 1997. My Department paid £400,000 to the corporation for the project in 1997 and a further allocation of £275,000 was notified to the corporation in July 1998 for completion of works on the project.
