Question:398 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí in the Westport District, County Mayo, in the years 1994-5, 1995-6, 1996-7, and 1997 to date. [18652/98]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 397 and 398 together.
I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the staffing strength of Westport Garda District for each of the years from 1994 to date is as follows:

The Garda authorities have also informed me that the Garda staffing situation in Westport Garda District will continue to be monitored and reviewed. They have further informed me that each time additional personnel become available for allocation the needs of the District will be fully considered in the overall context of the needs of other Garda Districts throughout the country.
