Vol. 494 No. 4

Written Answers. - Reinstatement Works.

Tony Gregory

Question:

399 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason the commitment made by builders (details supplied) employed by his Department at Mountjoy prison, Dublin 7, to landscape the small park area at Blacquire Villas, Dublin 7, to compensate for the damage done and disruption caused by building works to the prison, has not so far been honoured; and if he will have the matter expedited. [18657/98]

I am informed that arrangements and conditions pertaining to the use of the small park at Blacquire Villas by the building contractor in question were negotiated directly between the contractor and Dublin Corporation. I am further informed that the agreement reached between the two parties included an undertaking by the contractor to make payment in an agreed amount to the Corporation to cover costs incurred by the Corporation in reinstatement works and that the contractor has complied with this undertaking. Dublin Corporation has confirmed that it will put arrangements in place to carry out the reinstatement works.
