Vol. 494 No. 4

Written Answers. - FEOGA Agency.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

105 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when it is intended to establish the promised independent agency to administer FEOGA and other payments to farmers. [18415/98]

Willie Penrose

Question:

215 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the plans, if any, he has to set up an independent agency to administer payments to farmers as set out in An Action Programme for the Millennium; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18705/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 105 and 215 together.

Considerable preliminary work has been done in regard to the establishment of a FEOGA agency. I expect to be in a position to significantly progress this matter in the period ahead.
