Vol. 494 No. 4

Written Answers. - Personal Injury Claims.

Jim Higgins

Question:

122 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the total legal costs for her Department in dealing with personal injury claims for each of the years from 1990 to 1997. [18480/98]

The normal procedure followed at my Department when dealing with any personal injury claim that may arise is to forward all papers to the Chief State Solicitor's office. As such, any legal costs incurred upon processing of such claims are borne by the Chief State Solicitor's office. My Department, therefore, has no record of legal costs paid in respect of personal injury claims.
