Vol. 494 No. 4

Written Answers. - Fishing Rights.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

127 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will make funds available to enable the South Western Regional Fisheries Board to purchase the fishing rights to the Inny and the lakes in Waterville, County Kerry, for the benefit of the community; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18610/98]

I am advised that the Upper Waterville Lakes were sold recently and are therefore no longer on the market. The South Western Regional Fisheries Board advise that it is not aware of any fisheries for sale on the Inny River.

The purchase of strategic sport fisheries generally is eligible for consideration for grant aid under the tourism angling measure subject to meeting all the relevant criteria.
