157 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Defence the total legal costs for his Department in dealing with personal injury claims for each of the years from 1990 to 1997. [18484/98]

The legal costs paid to date in dealing with personal injury claims for the years 1990 to 1997 are as follows: 1990, £300,462; 1991, £699,445; 1992, £771,454; 1993, £732,293; 1994, £894,004; 1995, £1,415,672; 1996, £2,653,242 and 1997, £10,144,487.
