Vol. 495 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Museum.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

14 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress, if any, made regarding the promised review of the opening hours of the different sections of the National Museum, having particular regard to the fact that they remain closed on bank holiday Mondays; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [19722/98]

I refer the Deputy to my answer to Question No. 15 on 18 June last about this matter. I am aware that the National Museum favours the extension of opening hours generally with a view to improving access by the public and is presently giving detailed consideration to longer opening hours on Sundays, late opening on one evening during the week and to opening on Mondays. Such an extension would have major financial and human resource implications.
