Vol. 495 No. 4

Written Answers. - Ewe Premia.

Ivan Yates

Question:

138 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason detailed and genuine medical circumstances were disregarded in relation to the consideration of the forfeiture of a ewe premium quota for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if this case will be reconsidered in view of the fact that he has since purchased breeding animals for the forthcoming production year. [20307/98]

The ewe quota of 50 premium rights, held by the person named, was forfeited and returned to the National Reserve because he did not use at least 70 per cent of the quota in 1998.

However, I have had the matter re-examined in the light of the medical evidence submitted on his behalf and I have arranged to have the quota returned to him on condition that he uses it himself in 1999.
