Vol. 495 No. 4

Written Answers. - Cattle Dealers.

Michael Creed

Question:

156 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he has finalised the regulations governing the licensing of cattle dealers and their premises; the proposed registration and appeals procedure; his authority to suspend a licence; and, if so, if he will forward a copy of these regulations to Deputy Creed. [20343/98]

Regulations transposing the provisions of Council Directives 97/12/EC and 96/23/EC requiring the registration of dealers and their premises and farms and persons engaged in trading farm animals are currently being finalised. The relevant EU legislation and the primary legislation being used for transposition provide the basis for the arrangements to be included in the regulations.

I will arrange to forward copies of the finalised regulations to the Deputy.
