Vol. 495 No. 4

Written Answers. - Planning Legislation.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

261 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to strengthen planning legislation to ensure that developers complete housing estates in accordance with all the conditions laid down by the relevant planning authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19911/98]

Issues such as better enforcement of planning law and the taking in charge of housing estates are being considered as part of the comprehensive review of planning legislation which I initiated in August 1997. Arising out of the review I propose shortly to bring to Government a comprehensive set of proposals for reforming planning legislation.
