Vol. 495 No. 4

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

262 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his views on the rate of progress in facilitating the processing of applications under the tenant purchase scheme in South Dublin County Council in view of the delay in obtaining certificates of completion from Dublin Corporation and in view of the fact that where certificates are issued on an estate basis, further irregularities have been uncovered; the plans, if any, he has to take action under the provisions of the Local Government (Dublin) Act, which established the new Dublin local authority with effect from 1 January 1994 (details supplied). [19913/98]

Houses formerly owned by Dublin Corporation in the functional area of South Dublin County Council were transferred to the county council with effect from 1 January 1997. In these circumstances, the administration of the tenant purchase scheme in respect of any transferred houses is entirely the reponsibility of the county council.
