Question:318 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when he will publish Ireland's report on the Beijing women's conference; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20296/98]
Written Answers. - Women's Conference.
Ireland's national report to the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women was published in October 1994 and submitted to the UN in advance of the conference, which took place in September 1995.
The Platform for Action and Declaration agreed at the conference in Beijing was published in December 1996. Ireland's first report on the implementation of the Platform for Action, including strategies for future action to implement the Platform for Action, was published in December 1996 and submitted to the UN. All these reports have been made widely available nationally.
A comprehensive five year review and appraisal of the implementation of the Platform for Action will be undertaken by the UN in 2000.
