Vol. 495 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Equipment.

Austin Deasy

Question:

324 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will ensure that essential equipment, such as personal computers and laser printers, is provided for the District Garda Headquarters at Ballybricken, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20318/98]

I am informed by Garda management that there are six personal computers, four laser printers, three dot matrix printers, one electronic typewriter and three mainframe terminals at Ballybricken Headquarters Garda station. Under the Garda Pulse Project — Police Using Leading Systems Efficiently — which entails replacing and enhancing their computer systems, the equipment mentioned above will be augmented by the provision of 14 microcomputers and four laser printers in the near future.
