Question:325 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of murders committed since 1 July 1997. [20319/98]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the number of murders recorded between 1 July 1997 and 31 December 1997 was 21. Nineteen are recorded as being detected. The number of murders recorded in 1998 to date is 27. Twenty-four are recorded as being detected.
