Vol. 495 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

330 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position in relation to a Land Registry application for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal. [20331/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this is an application for first registration which was lodged on 25 September 1997 and that queries will issue to the applicant's solicitors within the next day or two. I understand that, due to their complicated nature, these dealings can take some time to process and it is not possible to estimate a completion time. I can assure the Deputy, however, that the Land Registry will deal with the application as expeditiously as possible.

Michael Ring

Question:

331 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if a dealing number will issue immediately in respect of an application (details supplied) lodged with the Land Registry over twelve months ago. [20446/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 16 March 1998. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, take some time to process. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a completion date for the application concerned at this stage. However, I can assure the Deputy that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
