Vol. 495 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Question:

344 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí assigned to events (details supplied); the amount of overtime, if any, allocated for each event; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20559/98]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information sought by the

Deputy cannot be compiled in the time allotted, due to its detailed nature. Every effort is being made to collate the information sought and I expect to be in a position to furnish a more comprehensive response to the Deputy within the next two weeks.

Question:

345 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí assigned to each Garda district and station in the Dublin Metropolitan Area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20560/98]

The Garda authorities are responsible for the detailed allocation of Garda resources and personnel to different areas. For operational reasons, the Commissioner is not in favour of releasing individual station strengths and I share that concern. However, I can give the details of personnel on a district basis for each of the six operational divisions in the Dublin Metropolitan Area, as follows:
