374 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will outline those aspects of the work of the Commission on School Accommodation which act as a constraint on his Department's ability to proceed with the implementation of his announcement of 22 January 1998; the degree to which his announcement was informed by an awareness of the ongoing work of this commission; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am not aware of any aspect of the work of the Commissionon on School Accommodation Needs which would act as a constraint to my proposed policy change on national school ownership.

As I indicated to the Deputy previously, the technical working group has made a recommendation on this matter and I was aware of this recommendation when I signalled my intention to change the policy. When the initiative is finalised, I will make the details available.
