Vol. 495 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Michael Creed

Question:

385 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not received payment for August 1998 for her employment at a school in County Cork. [20047/98]

The teacher concerned had a break in service for the month of August 1997. She has been paid by her employers, County Cork VEC, for the full 1997-98 school year, including the month of August 1998. Subject to compliance with the normal requirements for salary payment purposes, she will be paid for the full 1998-99 school year, including the month of August 1999, if she continues in her current post up to the end of August 1999.

Question:

386 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will ensure that the staffing schedule due to be published in 1999 for primary schools will retain the current level of staffing at a school (details supplied) in County Cork. [20048/98]

Staffing allocations for primary schools are decided on an annual basis. As yet no decision has been made regarding the staffing in primary schools for the 1999-2000 school year. However, I can assure the Deputy that, as soon as a decision is reached, I will review the staffing situation of the school in question and will correspond directly with the board of management in the matter.
