Vol. 495 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Investigations.

Seamus Kirk

Question:

25 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will provide an update on a murder case (details supplied) which has remained unsolved for many years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19940/98]

It is not the practice for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to report to the House on the progress of Garda investigations and I do not propose to depart from that practice in this case, other than to confirm, as I have already indicated in my reply to a parliamentary question of 14 May 1998, that certain matters have been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland for consideration by him. What further action might be taken by the Garda in this case will depend on the outcome of this consideration.
