405 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a submission for Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar, County Westmeath, seeking the provision of extra teachers for the school as part of a policy for a phased reduction in the pupil teacher ratio; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Following consideration of an application from the authorities of this school for an increase in the approved teacher allocation, my Department approved a concessionary allocation to the school for the 1998/99 school year. The question of reducing the pupil teacher ratio at second level must be considered in the context of available resources.
