Vol. 496 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Enda Kenny

Question:

145 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason it was necessary to transfer the accounts section of her Department from Furbo to Dublin; the reason it has not been possible to continue payments to members of her Department from Furbo; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22265/98]

It has been decided in the interest of departmental efficiency that the accounts function presently located in na Forbacha should be transferred to the accounts office in Dublin with a view to centralising the accounts function.

The accounts staff presently located in na Forbacha office will be assigned to duties relating to the Gaeltacht and the islands in that office thereby contributing to the work output of those areas.

The date for the completion of the transfer has been fixed for 1 January 1999.
