Vol. 496 No. 2

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Michael Creed

Question:

169 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the financial assistance, if any, available from his Department for a school (details supplied) in County Cork which proposes to develop sporting facilities, including basketball courts and tennis courts, which will be available to both the school and the wider community. [22278/98]

The sports capital programme operated by my Department provides funding towards the development of the type of facilities referred to by the Deputy.

The programme is currently being reviewed by my Department. When the review is completed, which I expect will be towards the end of 1998, details of the new schemes will be widely publicised and it will then be open to clubs and organisations to apply for funding under the new programme.
