Vol. 496 No. 2

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

Austin Deasy

Question:

80 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the plans, if any, he has for a major extension of Dunmore East harbour, County Waterford, including the provision for a marina; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22462/98]

The Department is evaluating the development requirements for Dunmore East harbour and the options for addressing those requirements. This evaluation is being informed by the consultancy study of infrastructural requirements at Dunmore East Harbour commissioned by the local harbour users' committee and a technical wave study of the harbour commissioned by my Department which is scheduled to be completed shortly.

I have also received a proposal from local sailing interests for development of marina facilities. This proposal is being considered in the context of the evaluation of the overall development needs of the harbour.
