Vol. 496 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

121 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will outline details of the new paediatric unit for Portlaoise Hospital, County Laois, announced by the Midland Health Board, with particular reference to the capital cost, the number of beds in the unit, consequent improved staffing levels and the timescale for the project. [22207/98]

My Department and the Midland Health Board are currently finalising the details in relation to plans for a new acute psychiatric unit and a paediatric unit at Portlaoise General Hospital. I expect to make a detailed announcement in relation to this development shortly.
