33 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will comment on reports that staff in his Department have been told they will not be able to collect travelling and overtime payments due to them; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23232/98]

Overtime payments continue to be made by my Department. These payments are continuously monitored as there is substantial pressure on this budget.

The travel budget of my Department is allocated to specific areas. Payments are being made in those areas which have not exceeded their allocations.
