Written Answers - Arts Plan Review.

Ivor Callely

Question:

158 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress, if any, on the independent consultant's review of the Arts Plan 1995-7; if the review will indicate the objectives of the plan which have not been achieved; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24908/98]

I expect to receive the report of the independent consultants review of the Arts Plan 1995-7 shortly and it is my intention to have it published by the end of the year. The terms of reference of the review directed the consultants to examine and report on the actual achievements effected as a result of the Arts Council expenditure since 1995 under the Arts Plan as compared to the objectives set out in the plan and also to evaluate the economic impact of this expenditure.

On foot of the foregoing examination and evaluation the consultants have also been asked to make recommendations as to the changes in emphasis and-or orientation, if any, considered desirable in the preparation of a future plan to address any weaknesses identified.
