Vol. 497 No. 3

Written Answers - Capital Projects.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

163 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the capital projects involving funding from her Department scheduled to commence in the Waterford constituency in 1999; the estimated expenditure in each case; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [25053/98]

The information sought by the Deputy is set out below but does not include projects funded by bodies under the aegis of my Department.

1. Development of the Old Market House in Dungarvan as an arts centre: a sum of £200,000 has been allocated towards the cost of the project.

2. The construction of a new sports hall and other improvements at Coláiste na Rinne, Rinn Ó gCuanach: a grant of £140,000 has been approved.

3. Restoration of the Double Tower in Waterford city: the estimated cost of this national monument is £30,000.

4. Conservation work on the French Church will commence in 1999 as part of a joint project on the French Church-Reginald's Tower costing some £300,000.

I should mention that work is ongoing on the conservation of Dungarvan Castle at a cost of £500,000.
