Vol. 497 No. 3

Written Answers - Physical Education Facilities.

Bernard Allen

Question:

195 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education and Science when the sports hall for Scoil Mhuire, Blarney, County Cork, will be built; and if all the necessary funding will be available in 1999. [25095/98]

My Department has recently authorised the school authorities to appoint a design team to initiate the architectural planning of a sports hall at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Blarney, County Cork. The school authorities have confirmed that they will fund the difference in cost between the Department's approved accommodation and the full size sports complex. The stage one submission for this project, that is the site investigation report, is now awaited from the school's design team. The question of funding will only arise when the project is ready for tender and as it is at a very early stage of architectural planning it is not possible to indicate when construction will commence.
