Vol. 497 No. 4

Written Answers - Hospital Equipment.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

119 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will install a radio frequency lesion generator at Loughlinstown hospital, Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25260/98]

I am advised by the Eastern Health Board that there is a planned programme of equipment replacement and upgrading in place at St. Columcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown. This programme includes an annual review of all medical equipment at the hospital to ensure that it meets modern standards and facilitates the provision of quality patient care.

The management at St. Columcille's Hospital have recently received a request from a medical consultant at the hospital for a radio frequency lesion generator. This item of equipment has been included in the hospital's submission of requirements to the Eastern Health Board for 1999 and will be considered by the board in the preparation of their service plan for next year.
