Vol. 497 No. 4

Written Answers - Dublin Port Tunnel.

Richard Bruton

Question:

126 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will list those who have made submissions in respect of the Dublin Port access tunnel; the criteria to be used for deciding who shall be entitled to make an oral submission; if he will be making expertise available to all those making presentations to obtain technical briefing in respect of points raised; if the inquiry will be conducted by a judge; and when the public inquiry will commence. [25222/98]

A list of those who made submissions on the Dublin Port tunnel scheme is being compiled and will be forwarded to the Deputy. Persons who have made submissions and who attend the public inquiry will have an opportunity to present oral evidence related to these proposals.

In accordance with established procedure, all parties will be responsible for formulating their own submissions at the inquiry.

Details of the inquiry are now being finalised and will be announced shortly. I anticipate that the inquiry will commence early in 1999.
