132 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the consideration, if any, the Government will give to allow Teilifís na Gaeilge have an equity stakeholding in DIGICO in view of the capital investment it has made in infrastructure to transmit its television signal to certain rural areas; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Equity participation by Teilifís na Gaeilge in the transmission entity to be created is not envisaged in the Government decision on broadcasting legislation and arrangements for the introduction of digital terrestrial broadcasting.
However, the identification and valuing of that part of the transmission network which is appropriate to Teilifís na Gaeilge will be an important part of the process of the separation of the existing analogue transmission function from RTE. In addition, I will be giving careful consideration to the optimum relationship between Teilifís na Gaeilge and the new entity.
