Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Neville — the increase in suicide rates by 20 per cent for the first six months of 1998; (2) Deputy Durkan — the disallowance of disability benefits in the case of a person, details supplied, in County Kildare; (3) Deputy Johnny Brady — the need to discuss threatened job losses at CTM Southborough, Kells, County Meath; (4) Deputy Gerard Reynolds — the need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to provide funding in his 1999 Estimates for the provision of a sewerage scheme facility in Drumsna, County Leitrim; (5) Deputy Sargent — the need to introduce interim measures, to have immediate effect, to protect important habitats until such time as the Wildlife (Amendment) Bill has been enacted in the light of the unprecedented destruction of habitats, in particular, wetlands, dunes and hedgerows and in recognition of Ireland's obligations under EU law to implement the Bird Directive and the Habitat Directive; (6) Deputy Flanagan — to raise with the Minister for Education and Science the number of complaints received in his Department from former pupils of sexual abuse against members of the teaching profession in primary schools; and (7) Deputy Finucane — the need to provide a remedial teacher for the combined schools of Gaelscoil Ó Doghair, Newcastle West, Monagea and Ahalin primary schools with a combined primary school population in excess of 400 pupils.

The matters raised by Deputies Neville, Durkan, Flanagan and Finucane have been selected for discussion.
