Vol. 497 No. 4

Written Answers - Fisheries Boards' Staff.

David Stanton

Question:

81 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if there is a staff scheme to include conditions of employment, job description and pension entitlements in operation for all permanent staff of the various fisheries boards; if not, the plans, if any, to set up a scheme; the number of staff employed by the various fisheries boards on a permanent basis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25335/98]

A total of 301 permanent staff are employed by the Central and the seven Regional Fisheries Boards. Comprehensive and detailed staff schemes were put in place in the mid-1980s to cover almost all the permanent staff: these schemes cover all areas relating to the grades involved, including conditions of employment and job specifications. A separate pension scheme covering all staff is also in place. The staff and pension schemes are the responsibility of the Central Fisheries Board.
