Vol. 497 No. 4

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Liam Aylward

Question:

86 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if payment of suckler cow and beef cow grants will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in view of the fact the application was submitted in May 1998. [25209/98]

An application was made by the person named under both the 1998 suckler cow premium and beef cow schemes on 28 May 1998.

At an on-farm inspection it was found that one of the animals entered on the claim was not in the applicant's ownership and possession at the time of application. Another animal declared on the claim as an eligible beef breed for both beef cow and suckler cow was deemed at inspection to be an ineligible dairy breed.

It was considered that the person named made a false declaration through serious negligence. The resultant penalty is disqualification from both schemes for 1998.

A letter is issuing shortly to the person named outlining the decision and allowing him the opportunity to appeal.

Jim Higgins

Question:

87 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of 1997 and 1998 headage grants to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [25211/98]

The person named was paid his entitlement of £200 under the 1997 sheep headage scheme on 28 September 1997 and the sheep headage top-up of £40 was paid on 11 December 1997.

The person named was paid his entitlement of £1,991.26 under the 1997 suckler cow premium scheme. The 60 per cent advance of £1,194.75 was paid on 23 December 1997 and the balance of £796.51 was paid on 19 February 1998.

The person named will be paid his entitlements under the 1997 and 1998 cattle headage schemes within the next 14 days.

The person named was paid his entitlement of £500 under the 1998 sheep headage scheme on 23 September 1998 and his 80 per cent advance of £2,131.49 under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme has now issued to him.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

88 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when outstanding agri payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [25212/98]

Difficulties have arisen in the processing of the area aid application for the person named and he has been informed. When these have been resolved any outstanding payments can then issue.
