Vol. 497 No. 6

Written Answers - Construction Products.

Bernard Allen

Question:

122 Mr. Allen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will make a statement on the situation regarding the failure of the National Standards Authority of Ireland to approve euroflex pipe in the construction of houses. [25922/98]

The National Standards Authority of Ireland, NSAI, has responsibility to deal with applications in Ireland for Agrément certification, which is a process used to vouch or certify fitness for purpose of new and innovative building or construction products.

The Irish importer of euroflex has brought judicial review proceedings challenging NSAI's position on the Agrément certification of euroflex. This matter is currently before the courts. Therefore, it would be inappropriate of me to comment, given that the matter is sub judice.
