Vol. 497 No. 7

Written Answers - Salary Levels.

Michael Ring

Question:

129 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance if he has received the consultants' (details supplied) report in relation to pay structure in the non-pub lic sector; if so, when he will publish the report; if he will adopt the recommendations contained in the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26184/98]

On 13 July 1998 I received the report which I had com missioned on the remuneration of chief execu tives of commercial State bodies.

I had commissioned the report in the context of the Government decision, announced on 24 March 1998, to modify the recommendations con tained in Report No. 37 of the review body on higher remuneration in the public sector in relation to chief executives of the commercial State bodies.

The detailed information contained in the report is being considered in my Department. When that process has been completed I will be in a position to bring proposals to Government as to the salary rate to apply to the chief execu tive of each commercial State body.

There are no plans to publish the report.
