Vol. 497 No. 7

Written Answers - Mental Handicap Services.

John McGuinness

Question:

142 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if he will have the case inves tigated and determine the way the South Eastern Health Board will deal with his future needs and care; and if his Department will provide funds to the board to meet his special needs. [26226/98]

As the Deputy will be aware, the provision of ser vices for persons with a mental handicap in Kilkenny region is the responsibility of the South Eastern Health Board. As it would not be appro priate to provide the information sought by the Deputy in relation to the individual concerned by way of a parliamentary question I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to examine this matter and to respond directly to the Deputy.
