Vol. 497 No. 7

Written Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

150 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if an appli cation is being considered in his Department in relation to the proposed sewerage scheme for Gweedore, County Donegal; if funding is being allocated towards the planning and design of this scheme; the cost of the scheme; and when work will commence on the project. [26134/98]

This scheme is included in the 1998 water and sewerage services investment programme to advance through plan ning. The European Commission has recently approved grant assistance for the planning of the scheme, which has a current estimated cost of £13 million. Approval has recently been given to Donegal County Council to appoint consultants to update the preliminary report and prepare an environmental impact statement. I am not in a position at this juncture to indicate when con struction of this scheme will commence.
