Vol. 497 No. 7

Written Answers - Solicitors' Training.

Richard Bruton

Question:

187 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the decision of the Law Society to require the resitting of the final entrance examination from which graduate students were previously exempt; and if he has expressed any views in this regard. [26255/98]

The Law Society has a statutory responsibility for the training of solicitors under the Solicitors Act 1954 and the Solicitors (Amendment) Act, 1994. Accordingly it would not be appropriate for me to make any statement on the matter.
