Vol. 497 No. 7

Trinity College, Dublin and The University of Dublin (Charters and Letters Patent Amendment) Bill, 1997: Motion.

Before the Order of Business I must deal with an item of private business. Seanad Éireann has passed a resolution in which the concurrence of Dáil Éireann is desired concerning the appointment of a joint committee of both Houses to consider the Trinity College, Dublin and the University of Dublin (Charters and Letters Patent Amendment) Bill, 1997. Before I call the Leas-Cheann Comhairle to move the motion, the Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, Deputy Brennan, wishes to make a proposal in respect of arrangements for taking this item.

I move that No. 1 shall be decided without debate.

Are the arrangements for taking No. 1 agreed? Agreed.

I move:

That Dáil Éireann concurs with Seanad Éireann in its resolution communicated to Dáil Éireann on 6 November, 1998 that it is expedient that a joint committee of both Houses be appointed to consider the Trinity College, Dublin and the University of Dublin (Charters and Letters Patent Amendment) Bill, 1997.

Question put and agreed to.
