Vol. 497 No. 7

Written Answers - Millennium Celebrations.

Jim Higgins

Question:

10 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the proposals, if any, the Government has to designate a special day as a millennium national holiday; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21157/98]

In response to a request, my Department has provided — for the information and consideration of the national millennium committee — an initial assessment of what would be involved in declaring a once-off public holiday on 31 December 1999 in celebration of the millennium.
