Vol. 497 No. 7

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Richard Bruton

Question:

82 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the nature and progress of the inquiries into the discrepancies into differing co-operative development unit grants listings issued to her Department announced on 14 October 1998; the difficulties, if any, encountered to date; if she has made a decision that FÁS makes available to the public details of grants issued by this unit; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26174/98]

Following my reply to the Deputy's previous question on this subject, I have had inquiries made and I have now provided the Deputy with a comprehensive response to the issues raised.

In relation to the publication of grants to enterprises, the practice followed by industrial development agencies, IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland, is that information on grant moneys paid to client firms is made available on a retrospective basis to those who request it. I propose to ask FÁS to follow the same practice in relation to its co-operative development unit grants and training support scheme grants to industry.
