Written Answers - Job Placements.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

95 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of full-time jobs achieved by participants in various FÁS courses in the past 12 months; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26240/98]

Some 17,046 full-time jobs were achieved by participants from various FÁS courses who completed their training in 1997. Included in that figure were 2,629 people who were sponsored by industry. As apprentices are employees they are not included in this data.

In 1998, from January to end of October, inclusive, 12,153 people were placed which includes 2,736 people sponsored by industry.
