The above named is involved in a duplicate claim on a parcel. The herdowner has been informed of this difficulty and the area aid unit is awaiting clarification of the correct position from the person named.

The problem on the area aid application of the person named is due to the commonage shareholders cumulatively claiming an area in excess of the gross area of the commonage.
Where it is clear that the overclaim is attributable to one or two shareholders they are queried and the area aid applications of the remaining shareholders are cleared.
However, where the shareholders causing the overclaim are not readily identifiable, it is necessary to take the matter up with all the applicant shareholders as in this case.

No area aid application was received from the person named in 1998 and without a valid area aid application for the relevant year, headage payments cannot issue to a herdowner. Since the person named does not have a suckler cow quota, payment cannot issue under the suckler cow premium scheme.

Formal EU Commission approval for the scheme is expected shortly. All farmers entitled to assistance under the appropriate categories will then be paid as quickly as possible.
