223 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance if he will ensure that funds are made available for the Irish Seal Sanctuary to enable it continue to assist in the rescue and rehabilitation of Irish marine mammals (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26753/98]

I have noted the representations of the Deputy in relation to the Irish seal sanctuary. The allocation of funding to them would not be a matter for my Department in the first instance at least. I am however, drawing the attention of the appropriate Departments to the matter for further consideration.
